Your story matters.

We are wired for connection and belonging.

Though—if we are 100% honest—we often wonder if we are quite [fill in the blank] enough to be valued and loved. We sometimes fear that no one would stick around if they REALLY knew us.Most of us have learned to: hustle for worthiness, live behind emotional masks, and numb ourselves from vulnerability.

But it turns out that our strategies don’t work.

When we avoid our dark feelings and pain, we also numb the feelings we long for most – love and joy. When we strive to “fit in,” our deepest needs for belonging go unmet. We end up sleep-walking through our days with hearts that shrink back from authenticity and the risk of emotional exposure.

Sometimes we need to be reminded that there is another way.

We need a companion for the journey who can help us discover what’s blocking us from connection and contentment. We need someone who will walk alongside us as we explore our stories and envision new ones.Debbie Miller Soul Care is here to offer that support.

About Debbie Miller

When we avoid our dark feelings and pain, we also numb the feelings we long for most – love and joy. When we strive to “fit in,” our deepest needs for belonging go unmet. We end up sleep-walking through our days with hearts that shrink back from authenticity and the risk of emotional exposure.

Some things that you might want to know about me:

I believe in the power of awareness to create the possibility for change. And I am good at helping clients feel safe and seen, so that they can engage their stories in an atmosphere of attunement and care.I know how to make the ancient stories of sacred text come alive meaningfully for my clients in their real-time struggles and joys. I believe these ancient words have power because they continue to speak of our unique purpose and God’s great love for us.I am passionate about helping people see themselves as creative and experience the transformative power of letting expressive arts be a sacred storyteller.

What I DON’T have is:

a magic wand, any sure-proof formulas, or10 easy steps to anything.Instead, I can offer to walk with you down your individual path to healing. If you are ready to embrace mystery and uncertainty and discover together how your personal story matters, I can offer insight and compassion on the journey. Together we can explore your multi-storied heart, uncover what’s in the way of your authentic freedom, and take steps toward transformation.

- Archetypal patterns
- Embracing your light and owning your shadow
- Your core values (pillars for discernment and empowerment)
No artistic skills or experience are required.Coaching packages are available, as well as personalized retreats and group work.Currently, I am providing Creative Depth Coaching by phone or Zoom only.

Spiritual Direction

Learning to listen to whispers from the Divine and hear from our deepest selves is one of the most important tasks of our lives. And yet, many of us have learned very little about how to discern and interpret our deepest intuitions and subtle promptings.Others may find themselves in a season where their traditional spiritual practices have grown stale and lack relevance. Some may be in a full-scale crisis of faith, wondering if anything they thought they knew is really true.As a trained Spiritual Director and long-time practitioner of listening prayer, intuitive art-making, and practices of stillness and silence, I create a hospitable and safe place where we will listen together for the deeper mysteries. (Please note: Currently, I meet with spiritual direction clients virtually via phone or Zoom only.)I draw on the work of many spiritual thinkers, including:
- Dan Allender
- Wilkie Au
- Ruth Haley Barton
- The Christian Mystics
- Larry Crabb
- Chuck DeGroat
- Janet Hagberg
- C. Baxter Kruger
- Richard Rohr
- Ronald Rohlheiser
- Maggie Ross
- Alexander Shaia
